Payroll Manager

SUMMARY
The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the
overall direction/production of Client’s US payroll staff to
ensure operational excellence is continually met or
exceeded.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for planning and deployment of necessary
system and process changes, as well as employee
staffing/development used to increase efficiencies
within the payroll staff in accordance with Client’s
operational and financial objectives.
- Responsible for making recommendations to HR
Director on payroll best practices.
- Identify, develop and deploy best practices and
continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase
staff efficiencies, staff development and overall
effectiveness on a global basis.
- Ensure sound controls are maintained and followed in
compliance with existing internal and external
governance controls.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships
among all departments at Client across all sites and
levels.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships
among third-party vendors dedicated to payroll and Human
Resources-related needs.
- Staff management, development and performance
evaluation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Perform this job successfully an individual must be
able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Solid computer and management skills required.
- System conversion experience.
- Previous use of an outsourced payroll service
provider.
- Knowledge of time and attendance applications and
multiple ERP applications (i.e. SAP, Peoplesoft, Lawson,
Oracle).
- Desired experience includes previous work with a
large Shared Services Center and exposure to principles
of TQM.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervises one employee in the Payroll
department.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance
with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and
training employees; planning, assigning, and directing
work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining
employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- BS Degree (Accounting/Finance). Certified
Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- At least 8 years of payroll management experience,
gained supporting a North American operation with
multiple legal entities across multiple locations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence,
and procedure manuals.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints
from customers and/or employees.
- Ability to effectively present and/or respond to
information and/or questions from employees and
customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as
probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of
plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, calculus, matrix
manipulation, and device physics.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, proportions, and analysis to
practical situations.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a
variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable
attendance.
- Ability to interpret/analyze a variety of problems,
instructions and issues furnished in written, oral
diagram, or technical form.
- Ability to communicate internally and externally
with all levels of an organization and to participate in
problem solving/quality improvements activities.
- Ability to work independently.

Under the general direction of the EVP – HR &
Administration, is responsible for the preparation and
execution of semi-monthly payroll, various benefit
administration including 401(k), life insurance and
long-term disability, coordination of LOMA activity, and
workers comp administration.
Qualifications Desired:
- Post high school education in accounting
preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with ADP software
preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency on Word and Excel
